Some of my favorite Halloween videos and jewelry and we did it Wednesday

My brother recorded some Disney cartoons when he was a little boy on VHS tape. When my daughter was little, he gave me the tape so Ciarra could watch it. I transferred the tape on to DVD. I know you can just buy high quality DVD's of this, but I just had to have the original he taped because it had all these 1980's commercials, and I just loved them. It brought back so many memories!
Here are a few of the cartoons that were on the tape. The Wonderful World of Disney "scary tales" was the episode:

And here is another with Mickey Mouse also dates back to 1929.

And we can't leave out Donald Duck!! this is from 1945
More Donald..this time from 1952

And though the following are not Disney, I love them and they so remind me of my childhood!

For the first one you have to CLICK HERE...I just LOVE LOVE LOVE Witch Hazel! She is too funny! and I love the song she sings! "A cup of tea...a cookie...and you-hoo!"

And this one...this is just utterly classic!
" I got a Rock"

We are getting ready for Trick-Or-Treat tonight...I just hope we don't get any rocks! LOL!...the only rock I want, is the shiny kind for my finger! HAHAHAH ;-) wouldn't that be a nice thing to get in my trick or treat bag! ;-)
Speaking of "rocks"...here are some "Halloween like" jewels for your enjoyment...

This is so cool! I love this brooch!

Love it...very cool. My husbands birthstone with some black diamonds. Perfect for  autumn

Like Samantha's from Bewitched...only Black Diamonds!

This is just utterly fabulous! here is the link to this

This was on ebay...pretty!

I need to get back to work on my black peplum sweater. I have a ton of other things I need to get to sewing including the clutch that goes with my orange and black outfit, two faux fur coats and some sweaters and tops! So much to do!

I hope you have a fabulous Halloween evening!

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!! and links to help with hurricane Sandy

It's Halloween! and when I think of Halloween I think of Orange and black, Witches, Kids in costume, GOODIES (yum!), and Black cats!! I decided to share a few "Halloween Kitty" pics to get you into the spirt of things today!

My favorite Kitty since the 70's when I was a little girl

Adorable nails!

LOVE!

AAAWWWWW

Love vintage!

LOL

OK...I am hungry now!

SO CUTE

ADORABLE! so cute that I would almost feel sad to eat!...notice I said ALMOST! ;-)
Even more cuteness!

You have to know by now how I feel about Orange and Black!

I love nail art too...and these nails are so fun for Halloween!!!

My computer is running a bit funny today, and certain sites aren't working at all for me. This is probably due to Sandy messing things up.
I really feel sad for all those who lost their homes, and are without power right now. My heart goes out to them.
I hope the little kids get to at least enjoy something today. They deserve to have a good time and forget their troubles for a little while, after all they have been through.
If you would like to help the victims of hurricane Sandy here are two links in which you can donate funds, or learn how to help:

A Stroll in Autumn Orange coat Member project of the week on BurdaStyle

I just logged into BurdaStyle to find my "A stroll in Autumn Orange coat" is the featured member project of the week. I have stated many times before that I love the BurdaStyle website, and that if you like to make your own clothes, you really should sign up and become a member. It is a great site, filled with amazing talented people from all over the world. I really enjoy meeting new people, and it is fun to see the beautiful things they create.
If you would like to visit the site, and take a look around, just click this link: http://www.burdastyle.com/

Today I am busy working on my interview project from my journalism class, and then I am going to work on my sweater a bit. I still have to cut it out, but that should not take long.

Today it is very chilly in my house, and I had to turn up the heat. It is still lightly raining here from Sandy, but tomorrow it is supposed to stop, and just in time for Trick-or-Treat.
I will be taking some pics with my iphone as I go around the block with my son. It should be a good time, as always. :-)

I hope everyone will quickly recover from Sandy. I know many have lost property and homes due to the storm. My thoughts and prayers are with all of them today.

Until next post,
Amy

A Stroll in Autumn Orange Coat

When I saw this coat pattern in the October 2012 issue of BurdaStyle, I decided to give it a try.
If you would like to make your own coat like this, just click HERE.

I have my black peplum sweater and autumn leaves clutch to finish in order to complete this look. If you remember I said I wanted to re-create the outfit from my "A stroll through the park in Autumn" set that I made on Polyvore.
Click HERE to read about this set

I took the pictures here on my porch because the weather is utterly nasty out there. We have had over 10 inches of rain, and the wind is really starting to pick up out there. Sandy is almost upon us.
My thoughts are with all of you out there who are enduring this storm. Hang in there!

If you have power today, check out these link-parties:

Until next post,

Waiting on the weather and thinking of winter....

Black birds in the snow items click here

We are sitting here at home waiting to see what this hurricane Sandy is going to do. It has been steadily raining all day long. Tomorrow is supposed to be the "main event" so to speak, and the worst will be upon us. Only time will tell where this is all going, and what will occur.

On another note, I FINALLY finished my orange coat! I have been so utterly busy this month that I have had barely any time to work on it for any lengthy blocks of time. It would have been done long ago, but life intervenes...

I am going to attempt to shoot some pictures in the coat tomorrow on my porch. We will see how it goes. Not sure if I will be able to pull it off or not, but I am going to try!

Ciarra put this "Black Birds in the Snow" set together on Polyvore. Every winter we have a ton of black birds that come to feed and roost in the trees on my property. They look so pretty against the stark white of the snow. This was the inspiration for this set.

I hope all of you that are in the path of Sandy will stay safe and dry. Be careful, and alert always.
Until next post,
Amy

Our trip to Fairy Stone State Park Cabin 8

Here are the pictures from our trip to Fairy Stone State Park Cabin 8. We had such a great time, and can't wait to return again.
Cabin 8 has a certain serenity to it, and a real sense of history. Generations of families have spent many vacations here over decades. In the cabin journals that are waiting for you to read and to write in, we read of many families who have been coming back over through their childhood, to now come with  their children and grandchildren in order to create new memories. The tradition carries on. This warms my heart and makes me feel very lucky to have been able to stay in such a place with my family.

Fairy Stone is one of the very first state parks that Virginia opened. There are no TV's. no phones and no cell phone or internet! in other words...it is PEACEFUL. We forgot about life back home, school and work.
When we came home, we found that hurricane Sandy is headed this way, and we wished that we hadn't left Cabin 8! LOL.
Here are the pictures from our trip...WARNING...there are a LOT of them!!
Our first stop was Philpott lake. We just had to check out the view. It was the perfect place to stretch our legs before we could check in at Cabin 8.
Had to stop on the way to the interstate to take a pic of the sunrise over this pond

Got to have my Dunkin Donuts coffee! delish!

The kids at Philpott lake visitor center under a beautiful yellow tree!

We arrived soon after to Fairy Stone...

Soren is happy!

This is how Soren looked almost the entire time we were here! LOL! mis-matched PJ's!

Ciarra approves of Cabin 8!

Making a fire before we play UNO

another penny found in the cracks! it is a tradition. You hide a penny in the cracks of the cabin for the next people to find

someone had to let us all know they were there! LOL

I wonder if this was also carved in 1979?

A penny we found

Morning at Fairy stone...so peaceful

And on the way home we decided to go a different route...one we had not been on before. We ended up finding another state park, and stopping to take a look. This time it was Twin Lakes State Park.

We had the best time! We look forward to our next family adventure. These are the moments in time that I just treasure! I love my family :-)

Until next post,
Have a wonderful day!
